An interview with GET IT magazine

Here are a few questions and answers from my interview with Alanicka Lotriet from GET IT magazine. I appreciate her effort with the writing and photo shoot. She is very professional and made me feel at ease immediately.

For more information, read the full article in the March edition of the magazine or read it on the GET IT website. Thank you for all the positive reaction!!

1.    Can you tell me more about how your purple concept evolved over time? What you started out with, versus where you are now?

My initial idea with Purple Posy was just to sell lavender as cut flowers. But then I realized that there are many people who are passionate about this purple flower. They inspired the Purple Posy range of Wellness products. But, true to my personality, I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied to sell products only. I wanted to offer a memorable experience. I wanted to share the joy, the calmness that being surrounded by lavender brings. I later qualified as a Life Coach, focusing on de-stressing and Mindfulness. My workshops offer an opportunity to slow down, relax, have fun, while learning about lavender’s magic.

I am still full of new ideas and work to stay up to date with new trends. Learning is living! The purple concept can keep on evolving. Creativity does not have a limit when working with Nature’s gifts.

2.    I read your blog piece on your grandpa. It sounds like he was a big inspiration to you. Can you paint a picture of the role he played in your life? And how he still affects you today.

My grandfather inspired me more than just to discover books. I knew he loved me wholeheartedly. He spoilt me with attention and love. I wanted to bring that security to our own children and the students I work with. If a child knows that he is loved, valued and important to you, he has a better chance to thrive.  My grandfather also set an example through his Faith.

3.    If there is one message you could get across to everyone, what would it be?

My message would be to find something to celebrate! We like to have a bottle of bubbly in the fridge to celebrate things and we make an occasion of it. We celebrate small things, like a beautiful sunset, a fat full moon or the first fig of the season. To find joy in simple things is precious. Celebrate that you have survived the day by listening to beautiful music, phoning a loved one or baking a cake.   If you look for celebration, you live with gratitude. Your focus shifts to look for the positive. Of course, it is not always easy and life can be hard.

4.    What would you say makes your lavender experiences so unique? What can our readers look forward to?

My lavender sessions offer an escape into a stress free zone.  We stay in the moment, relax, laugh and eat lavender infused refreshments, while being surrounded by the beauty of lavender. It is informative, inspiring and thought provoking. But most of all, it is fun!

5.     One thing that will always make your day.

Fresh morning air when I open doors and windows to let the let the day in.

6.     One goal you’re never giving up on?

Keep on learning! Trying to be better, calm, kind, at peace, gentle, fun and interesting is a life- long process.

7.     What inspires/ motivates you?

In my business, I am inspired and motivated by the compliments and lovely feedback I get from my clients. They come back time and again and some later become my friends. It is a wonderful privilege to bring pleasure or to be able to give something to somebody who needs it, whether it is a lavender posy, a kind word, a willing ear or tools to handle difficulty better.

8.    Do you have a life motto?

Breathe, pray and embrace life!
